Methods
Pre Method
The purpose of this Method section is to tell my readers how I will go about collecting my data. To give them an idea of questionnaire I decide to use, how I came up with ideas for my “face to face” interviews and overall the steps I took to get to my findings. This method section differs from the other parts of my research paper because it is the only section the way I went about getting my data. By the end of this section I hope my readers can see how important this research was to me and how I went above and beyond to achieve some god results. I hope that everyone will read this research paper, but to be more precise maybe some lesbian women, bisexual women and women with children. The way I would tailor this audience would be to stick to the topic and not go way off subject. Since this research topic hasn’t been done often I hope to open up a new door to lesbianism research.
Methods
Participants
Given that the three women I chose for this study are close friends of mine, I decide to not give there names so will called the X, Y, and Z. These three women are all mothers who are lesbian or recently joined lifestyle after having children. X,Y,Z are all African American women who live in the Philadelphia area and their ages range from 24- 32 years of age. They are all lesbian or involved with women in a relationship sort of way. X, Y, Z all had previous heterosexual relationships men and gave birth children while in those relationships.
Procedure
The method I chose to gather my information was case studies. This will allow me to gather vital data, background information, ask about past heterosexual relationships and analyzed and observed body movements and facial expression. First, I decided to email X, Y, Z an “Are You a Lesbian” questionnaire that I came up with. It was ten questions to get some information on their background and how long they had feelings for women. Second, I decided to do a follow up interview with X, Y, Z but this time in person. I asked them personal questions about their sexuality, past relationships and children. Third, I decided to give X, Y, Z some insight on my research question and why I chose this question. I then asked X, Y, Z the key question to my research, do you think this will this affect your children sexuality. This was a very touching subject and the response I got clearly shows that. Here’s a sample of the questions I asked on the “Are You a Lesbian” questionnaire.
- Are you a lesbian? If not do you date women?
- Do you think this lifestyle has or will affect your children?
- Have you always had a sexual feeling towards women? If so, how long?
In the next section I will discuss my results and what I learn from X, Y, Z and how it relates to my research topic.
